Today, April 5, 2026, we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, a powerful reminder that love is stronger than death, and hope rises even after the darkest moments.

From the silence of the tomb came new life, a promise that no suffering is ever in vain and no ending is ever final. His Resurrection calls us to live with faith, to rise above our struggles, and to become instruments of light and compassion to others.

May this day renew our hearts, strengthen our spirit, and inspire us to walk in His truth with courage and joy.

Catholic faithful observe Black Saturday today, a sacred moment of silence and reflection as Jesus Christ lies in the tomb. Churches remain quiet, with no Mass celebrated during the day, inviting everyone to pray and contemplate His sacrifice.

As night approaches, preparations begin for the Easter Vigil, marking the transition from sorrow to the hope of resurrection.

Today, we solemnly observe Good Friday — the Passion of the Lord.

“He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; by His wounds, we are healed.” – Isaiah 53

On this sacred day, we remember the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and the immeasurable love poured out on the Cross. In silence and prayer, may we reflect on His suffering, renew our faith, and embrace the healing grace He offers to us all.

On the solemn evening of Maundy Thursday, April 2, 2026, Catholic faithful gathered at the CKC San Damiano Chapel for the sacred tradition of Visita Iglesia, marking a profound expression of faith, reflection, and devotion during the Lenten season.

The chapel welcomed everyone who came in silence and prayer, visiting the Altar of Repose in remembrance of the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The atmosphere was filled with reverence as devotees offered personal intentions, thanksgiving, and prayers for guidance.

Visita Iglesia, a long-standing Catholic practice observed during Holy Week, invites the faithful to journey spiritually with Christ through moments of contemplation and repentance. At the CKC San Damiano Chapel, this tradition was deeply felt as participants embraced the call to prayer, humility, and renewal.

As the night unfolded, the faithful were reminded that beyond ritual lies a deeper encounter with God, one that calls for reflection, compassion, and a renewed commitment to live out the values of faith in everyday life.

This Maundy Thursday, April 2, 2026, we solemnly remember the Institution of the Eucharist, the sacred moment when Jesus offered His Body and Blood as a lasting gift of love and salvation.

At the Last Supper, He did not only share bread and wine. He gave Himself fully and completely so that we may always experience His presence in our lives. The Eucharist is more than a ritual. It is a living reminder of His sacrifice, His mercy, and His unending love for all.

As we gather in faith today, may we receive Him with grateful hearts and be transformed into His presence for others.

In celebration of the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, we will hold our institutional observance on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The celebration will begin with a Holy Mass at 9:00 AM at the CKC Assumption Province Gymnatorium. All employees and students are expected to participate as we gather to honor and thank our Lord, Christ our King.

After the Mass, there will be friendly ball games open to employees only, as our Institutional Intramurals have been rescheduled to January 12–17, 2026.

In light of the recent typhoon and earthquake, and after consultations with employees, the administration has agreed to keep our celebration simple and mindful of those who are suffering and recovering. As a gesture of solidarity, snack packs will be distributed to all employees.

May our celebration be meaningful as we remember and pray for all victims who continue to rebuild their lives.

May Christ the King bless us all.

About CKC

Established a Colegio Catolico in 1905, it was renamed Colegio-Seminario de Calbayog in 1910, few months after Calbayog was made into a diocese for Samar and Leyte.

In 1924, it was renamed Colegio de San Vicente de Paul (CSVP) and was transferred to Brgy. Rawis after separation from the seminary.

In 1952, two American Franciscan missionaries of the assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) Province of Pulaski, Wisconsin, USA, arrived in Calbayog City.

CSVP was transferred from Brgy. Rawis to its present 150 location Magsaysay Boulevard. On October 30, 1955, CSVP was dedicated to Chris the King, hence, the present name Christ the King College.
